What initial reaction do you have to tie the studies of Harlow and Deci to education?

I liked how they compared the results of the first experiment to one about velocity.  It truly would freak a scientist out to see a ball float in air. I agree with Barb that it is weird to think that people would do better without pay but I guess pay adds pressure. I think that students who are trying hard to get good grades can have the same thing happen. They focus on the grade instead of how much they are learning the information. I want to make learning something that is like the puzzle in the studies so students are interested and willing to work on the puzzle outside of class.
