Chapter 1 How does the rise and fall of Motivation 2.0 relate to your life experiences that hold true to what Pink purports in the chapter?

I like what both and Barb and Jacque have to say about motivation 2.0.  I think you both had quality examples about working hard to gain something that has intrinsic value or something that just daily routine.  An example I could think of in my life would have been football in high school.  Our high school coaches only conditioned us once a week.  Some would think this would be crazy, but our coaches said if we went hard we would only condition one a week, if not they would run us.  It seemed to work pretty well because we got quality time in during practice and then no one had to dread “conditioning” time during practice.  When we did have to run, the team didn’t really take it as seriously as they should have and it wasted practice time.  I think a way it will work in the classroom will be allowing students reading time throughout the day.  They may get bored or not want to read a text book, so maybe free reading time will be the time to help them improve reading skills or just get more reading in.
