That was great what Jacque said about the third law of
mastery, asymptote. It is so true. Part of Morningside’s mission statement
mentions the life long learner. I also
agree with Jacque when she says it is great for students to see active learning
and to take on new challenges. Just
because we are teachers does not mean we have all the answers. It is important when we do not have an answer
we can admit that and go find one. By not
making excuses and admitting our mistakes will help the students realize it is
ok as long as you give it another try. One big lesson taught in every
education class is to model for the students.
If at first you don’t succeed, try and try again. So to answer your question Jacque, I really
like the section on mindset. I also
believe that mastery is a mindset, and it will be challenging to encourage
students not to make excuses for why they cannot do something. Giving students a safe environment to take
risks and become engaged can help influence a positive mindset.
