Chapter 4

Atlassian’s says that a person’s Type I behavior will emerge when they have control over the 4 t’s, task, time, technique and team.  I agree with Jacque when she mentions that it may be hard to control how teams form because most will want to work with Type I.  As educators we will get to know our students and what types of things motivate them and what they are interested in.  Creating a safe community where the students know they can take risks and welcome new challenges would be so fulfilling as an educator.  In the previous chapter Pink says that Type I are born and made, and Type X are those that have learned these behaviors from their environment.  Giving our students the options to choose their tasks and techniques can help that Type I behavior emerge.  In the book where Pink mentions how huge corporations give their employees a certain amount of time to create something new or work on a project they are passionate about.  As educators we can provide our students with the necessary skills to become autonomous, self-driven young citizens.
